Faena Tulum: A Night of Art, Celebration & the Unveiling of Our Collaboratory

On Saturday, February 15, Faena and Inmobilia welcomed partners, local authorities, artists, project creatives, brokers, and special guests to an evening that marked the beginning of Faena District Tulum. This event came together as a meeting of minds and talent, as it offered a true glimpse into the district’s vision — where those shaping its future came together in a space designed for conversation, creativity, and connection.

The Opening of the Faena Collaboratory

The night began with the unveiling of the Faena Collaboratory, a space created in collaboration with architect Brandon Haw that will serve as a sales center for the Branded Residences™. The Collaboratory offers a first look at the district’s design philosophy: where art, architecture, and nature exist in a constant dialogue.

At the center of the space stands
Portal del Éter Rojo, an Argentinian artist Pilar Zeta installation. Inspired by Akasha, the unseen force that connects everything, the piece features a red fire egg, symbolizing transformation and creation. The installation reflects on cycles of change and movement, a couple of wondrous ideas that resonate with the land and history of Tulum.

Complementing this work,
Cielo Tejido, a collective of over 200 female artisans from Jalisco, presented handwoven installations that filled the space with shifting light and intricate patterns. Their craftsmanship, rooted in tradition, starkly contrasted with Zeta’s contemporary vision, creating a layered artistic experience that speaks to Faena Tulum’s approach — bringing past and present into harmony.

An Evening in the Riviera Maya

As night fell, guests gathered for a traditional Argentinian asado under the open sky, a longstanding Faena tradition that brings people together over fire-grilled dishes and fine wine. Conversations stretched late into the evening, with artists, designers, and industry leaders sharing their thoughts on the district’s impact; what it means for Tulum, how it will evolve, and how it will shape the region’s creative landscape.

A District Taking Shape

Faena District Tulum will include 147 residences, an oceanfront hotel with 77 rooms and suites, an art pavilion, and Tierra Santa Healing House, a space dedicated to well-being that blends contemporary and ancestral healing traditions. Located near El Jaguar National Park and UNESCO World Heritage archaeological sites, the district integrates naturally into its surroundings while offering a new vision of coastal living.

The evening marked the first step in a project to redefine the relationship between art, culture, and nature. With its roots in the landscapes and traditions of Tulum and its sights set on the future,
Faena District Tulum is already taking shape.
