Mexico City, February 20th, 2025.— Following the unveiling of Faena District Tulum at the Faena Collaboratory in Tulum, Faena and Inmobilia introduced the project in Mexico City with an event at the legendary and luxe Casino Español, bringing together over 200 guests, including influencers, brokers, media representatives, and key figures from both companies. Originally conceived as a social club in 1863, the venue set the stage for the next step in Faena's presence in Mexico.
The evening focused on Faena Tulum Hotel & Residences, where architecture, art, and cultural programming will shape a distinct way of living.
A Night of Art, Vision, and Transformation at Casino Español
Portal del Éter Rojo, a monumental sculpture by Pilar Zeta, became a central topic of conversation at the event, encapsulating the essence of Faena Tulum. Expertly installed at the Faena Collaboratory in Tulum, the 410 cm tall and wide piece is crafted from stainless steel, chukum, onyx, and marble. The installation explores ether, the unseen force that connects all things, with a red fire egg at its core. Its reflective surface distorts its surroundings, drawing the viewer into the work and inviting a shift in perception.
Though the sculpture itself remained in Tulum, Ms. Zeta was present at the event, sharing insights into its creation and the concepts that shaped it.
The sculpture's base features a marble inlay marking the four classical elements —fire, air, water, and earth— contrasting black marble's weight with the white onyx's lightness. This innovative concept aligns with the themes of Faena Tulum: creation, transformation, artistic vision, and love shaping the experience.
Furthermore, Jesús Vázquez's performance piece explored Mayan perspectives on time, interconnection, and renewal. The choreography reflected birth, ideas taking shape, and the cycles that define both nature and creative expression. Performers wore deep red, a reference to Alan Faena's sabbatical years, where he planted roses that later inspired the development of Faena in Puerto Madero. The color also represents strength, creativity, and movement: the values that shape Faena's philosophy.
A Dialogue Between Gastronomy and Music
The evening's culinary selection, developed with Estrella Jafif, brought together Argentine and Mexican influences, creating a fusion of flavors that reflect the intersection of cultures in Faena Tulum. The menu reinterpreted traditional asado with Mexican elements, a reflection of the way Faena projects always exist at the meeting point of different traditions.
Music carried that very same intentionality. Espumas y Terciopelo performed live, setting the tone for an evening of energy and movement. At the same time, DJ Pony mixed Argentine folklore with Latin rhythms, reinforcing the night's exploration of culture and transformation.
A New Vision for Faena in Mexico
Speakers Alan Faena, Roberto Kelleher, Brandon Haw, Pilar Zeta, and Bernardo López introduced Faena District Tulum, highlighting its Branded Residences™ and the way they reimagine the connection between architecture, nature, and cultural expression. The district is set steps from UNESCO World Heritage archaeological sites and El Jaguar National Park. It integrates naturally with its surroundings while offering a new vision of coastal living in the Riviera Maya.
